Well I knew it was going to be a bad idea upgrading AS6.

I downloaded the 400+ MB upgrade, installed it, and now I have BOTH (I think and HOPE) AS6 and AS6.1.

Opened the project and it needs to be upgrade for AS6.1, fair enough, I allowed to make a back up but I don't know where the backed files are. Not to worry.

Rebuild the project and start debugging with JTAG Mk3 which needs upgrading, OK.

The code is uploaded and it starts to run, which is NOT what I wanted before I hit F5. Trying to click on Break and it doesn't work, code still runs, the only way to stop it is to stop debugging.

The project configuration (project properties) is no longer there for ASM project but now I'm not even sure it was there with AS6, it is there for C projects, don't know how I set the project up to start off with.

Codevision is no longer in AS6.1, still there is AS6.

AS6 seems to still work, so I hope I can do some work today.

So the debugger is not even dowloading the code it seems. I erased the chip and then retried to start debug which went through the motions and started to "run" as but nothing happens.

Fortunately AS6 seems to still be working for debug.

What do you mean by "project configuration is no longer there for ASM"? Does the UI not showing up or the Toolchain tab is missing or anything else?

Is this an issue with new project created in 6.1 or opening a project in 6.1 that was created in 6.0?

Can you post a screenshot of the issue?

Through which UI menu did you start the debugging

Under Project there is no Project Properties so the chip used, debugger etc. cannot be changed, it is there for C projects. See screen shot below.

It is no longer there in AS6.0 SP2 so maybe something in the upgrade changed part of the older program

Yes.

Debug > Start debugging and break.

It SEEMS as if it is dowloading and starting to run but the code doesn't run and can't Break.

Yes.

I see that the project context was not available when you try to open the project properties. One of the reason would that the file ASCII_Table.asm is not a project item. Open a file from the project and then check the menu or try opening the project properties from project context menu at Soluiton Explorer. Check the attached snapshot.

Something strange just happened. I did some code change and rebuilt in AS6.0, the Project Properties reappeared.

Closed AS6.0 and tried with 6.1 and the Project Properties are now visible.
However debug still doesn't work.

I have a feeling also that the bottom 3 lines from the Build were greyed out but now they are OK.
Only the top 3 Solution build line were usable.

The file was just one on several had I opened but I had the main file (entry file) before with the same result, however see the previous post.

And I have NEVER seen the screen you show on the R/H side, I use the item from the Build menu the way I do with C.

Right-clicking on a project in the solution explorer gives you a nice context menu for that project. That's what I use most of the time.

(I'm still using AS6)
