Arduino 2560 clock output (16Mhz) which pin we can use?

Hi,

 

I am new to Arduino mega 2560. am working on TMC429 Motion controller for the motors. Its require 16Mhz Clock, How can i provide from the 2560 micro-controller ? which pin i can use for the same? I can use Pin No 9((CLKO/ICP3/INT7) PE7)? If yes in arduino bord its not connected.  Kindly help me to do this.

The answer is on the arduino forum you also posted on. Someone asked the same question many years ago. Short answer- you need to add a wire to clko.

Is it possible to connect to (Crystal) XTAL1/2 pin directly? If yes which pin i can use either XTAL1 or XTAL2 ?

In theory the XTAL2 side may be "tap-able". But seriously, modern AVRs have CKOUT and the CLKO so use that - it mimics F_CPU and is a driven TTL output.

Thanks for your advice. I will solder a wire to clkout pin and i will use for the clock.
