Hello I'm new to this forum, could you tell me how to configure Studio 5 for using the AP7 (STK1006)

It seems unlikely that will be possible. I think Atmel had already dropped the AP7 long before they even started work on AS5 - why would they build it to support something that is "not recommended for new design"? It has extensive UC3 support though.

Okay, so I'm in the markey for a EVK1104/1105 development board. Which would you recommend? How much RAM is on each Development board?

Thanks for the help...

I would recommend the EVK1105 as it is the newer version of EVK1104

No it is not, EVK1104 has an UC3A3256 device, while EVK1105 has an UC3A0512 device. IMHO the UC3A3256 is a much cooler chip than UC3A0512

I think the suggestion should be based on the requirements of the project. UC3A3256 has 256 KB of flash but UC3A0512 has 512 KB of flash. So the first step is to get all the requirements and then map it to the exact device and development kits, tools etc.

Okay, so how much SDRAM does each device have? I need to store BMP files. Can I download to external SDRAM from the JTAG?

Once again this proves how hopeless atmel.com is - try to get the answer to those question there. While the 1104 has a "getting started" PDF listed there seemingly isn't an equivalent for 1105 ?!?

None of the UC3 devices have built-in SDRAM, the development boards have some MB's, IIRC 16 MB.

Wouldn't it be easier to inteface to a SD/MMC card and just read .BMP files directly from it?
