Any news on the AVR32UC3C

Hi,

Let me first greet everyone on the AVR32 forum, I'm new to the AVR32 forum, but are already active on the AVR8 forum.

For a new project, I need USB, CANbus and the possibility to drive a QWVGA with 24bit color (don’t want to use the AP7xxx processor).

I searched a little around the internet, and my first thought, was to us a CORTEX-M3 µc. But then I’ve found an article (roadmap) about the UC3C (and UC3D)variant of the UC3 series, that ‘should’ be released around Q4 2008.

Does anyone have more information about this µc? Will it ever see the daylight?

Thanks, hce, I've ordered a ATEVK1100, hopefully the UC3C will be available at that time, and an evaluation board will be on the market.

Just curious.
How do you plan to drive a LCD/TFT?

Perhaps it has onboard framebuffer, and hooks nicely to EBI?

Honestly, I’m still not sure.

Until now, I’ve only worked with monochrome graphic displays, which have a ‘CPU’ interface. The display I’m interested in is the PAMO-P0430WQLB or the PAMO-P0340WQLB, which have the HX5116-A chip driver from Himax.

It has several different data interfaces, but I’ll need HSYNC and VSYNC anyway, I misinterpreted the datasheet the first time I’ve looked into it, when I saw 8bit serial interface, and thought I could use some kind of DMA channel and one ‘Start Frame’ pulse, to transfer a frame at a time.

So, I've looked a little in the AP7000 datasheet, and understand now that it is a ‘little’ more complicated than that, to drive a TFT or AMOLED display. Any suggestions are welcome, on how I could use the UC3A with this display (there has to be a way).

Anyway, I’ll start first with understanding the microcontroller and AVR32 toolchain (I'm already stuck with the JTAGICEmk2 and Vista), the other interfaces I need, and then I’ll have a try with the display.

I guess, if I need the AP7000 anyway, that most, or at least part of the UC3 code, can be ported to the AP7000?

Any comments on how this could be done. I know of the LCD controllers by Epson and Solomon. They do not offer very high resolutions. By high, I mean 1024x768 and above.
