Hello,

I just received my original jtagice mkII. I connect it to my small board with a atmega88 that works perfectly with a stk500 isp clone.
With the jtagice i'm able to activate the debugwire mode using the squeeze cable but it's impossible to enter the debug mode or re-enable the isp mode.

Any idea??
thank you for your help.

While in a debugwire debug session go to the debug menu and select the "jtag ice mkII options" then use the [disable debugwire] button at the bottom right.

In Studio Help about JTAGICEmkII find the "frontend software" section and within that "on-chip debugging with the JTAGICEmkII" for more details about this.

Cliff

(this is clearly a badly designed/documented user interface in Studio as almost everyone who's ever used Debugwire has stopped by to ask this same question!)

i dit it before posting and always get " error entering isp mode"

i have check all cable and connection. I have read the avr studio "avr tools user guide" before connecting the emulator.
I think that my jtagice is dead, i will test the jtag connection with a mega32 to see if it's working.

Did you solve this? I had a similar problem and found that it depended on which ELF file I tried to download. (Sounds whacky but this was the way it was.)

Do you have ALL 6 ISP pins connected or just the DW pin?

hello,
the faulty one was replace by digikey, and now all works fine.
recently, i made a new board and put a capacitor in the reset line..and get the same error.. so check this point. and add a 10k (had no problem with a 4.7k) pull-up resistor on the reset line.
