Hi.  I am using AS 6.2 with Atmel-ICE on a m328p.  I previously was able to achieve uploading when I performed Debug => Start Without Debugging.  I assume this is for normal uploading (in ISP mode).

After much mucking about with debugging and etc., the upload in not occurring (for the ISP mode).

A dump of the output is;

------------------------------------------

           text       data        bss        dec        hex    filename
            178          0          0        178         b2    FirstStudioFor_m328p.elf
    Done executing task "RunCompilerTask".
    Task "RunOutputFileVerifyTask"
                Program Memory Usage     :    178 bytes   0.5 % Full
                Data Memory Usage         :    0 bytes   0.0 % Full
    Done executing task "RunOutputFileVerifyTask".
Done building target "CoreBuild" in project "FirstStudioFor_m328p.cproj".
Target "PostBuildEvent" skipped, due to false condition; ('$(PostBuildEvent)' != '') was evaluated as ('' != '').
Target "Build" in file "C:\Program Files\Atmel\Atmel Studio 6.2\Vs\Avr.common.targets" from project "C:\u\AS_62\00_FirstStudioFor_m328p\FirstStudioFor_m328p\FirstStudioFor_m328p.cproj" (entry point):
Done building target "Build" in project "FirstStudioFor_m328p.cproj".
Done building project "FirstStudioFor_m328p.cproj".

Build succeeded.
========== Build: 1 succeeded or up-to-date, 0 failed, 0 skipped ==========

------------------------------------------

Uploading does work OK using Tools => Device Programming => Memories.

Any thoughts and comments about re-configuring this???

Check which Tool you have selected for your project. It should be ATMELICE and ISP.

Hi.  The tool is as such (even with the issue);

The output you show is for a build - that won't program the device as well - that is always a separate step. So exactly what were you expecting to happen here?

Since it is showing the correct "Tool",   I would expect click on "Start without debugging" to program the board.

If it does not,   I would just create a new project and start again.     And this time,   make notes as you experiment with AS6.2

Alternatively,   re-start AS6.2 with your original project.

Hi.  I did as David suggested.  It was fixed with a re-establihed project.

With AS there appear to be a number of ways to upload.

1) As discussed above "Debug => Start Without Debugging" which I presume is in ISP mode.

2) "Tools => Device Programming => Memories" which I have only ever done in ISP mode.

3) In the course on debugging when you modify, a upload must be occurring when you launch the session again.

I should also add to the above list;

4) You can also upload with "Tools => <your own external tool>" that is fashion using avrdude.

Hi. Using AS7 and an Arduino (Uno), I want to use the USB serial connection.  I have been on youtube looking at extensive tutorials by Craig Hollinger.

He gives good samples and also the sample code in Github, but not so for the uart.c and uart.h library that he adopts.

Help?
