There have been a few threads asking where to get IDC connectors for 6-pin ISP headers. I just got a new Mouser catalog and noticed that they now carry them. Maybe they've been there for a while on Mouser's website, but they dont exactly have the best search function in town, so who knows.

Anyhow they're $0.96 in single quanities... Page 835 in catalog 619.

Thanks for the tip. This is something I had looked for in the past but given up on. One nice thing for me about Mouser is that they are local; I can order one afternoon and have the parts early the next afternoon using UPS ground. However, I will often wait until I have the Digikey minimum of $25 to avoid the handling charge and then order from them. The reason for this is what you noted - the Mouser search engine is less than optimum.

I was filling out my order and there are none in stock. Worse:

Aha! but you did the hard work. :)

Using your Mouser info (actually it turned out to be the first Google hit on "fci idc") we can pull up the datasheet for one of the "quickie" connectors. Zooming in on the .PDF of the drawing on the title block we see the Web link for www.fciconnect.com.

Going to FCICONNECT and finding the North American sales channels, we see that many of the major distis are listed.

Getting lucky, I happened to pick Allied first. They have 920 of the -306 in stock. Following the same procedure with the other distributors you may find one more to your liking that also has stock (Arrow, Future, Avnet, Newark, ...).

You can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig.

I've never met a pig I didn't like, as long as you have some salt and pepper.

FYI, the 6 pin IDCs are now in stock at Mouser. I ordered some last Friday and received them a couple of days ago. They're great!

Hrm, I guess I should put in my own order before everyone else depletes their stock!

So I guess it's time to stock up on these and go ahead and pick up an X-Port to play with.

Damn. All I need is another time sink

Thanks for the heads-up!

Done! Just ordered six of the 6-pin connectors and an X-Port. :D

Lord help me...
