If you modify the .aps file from 0 to 1 , and open the .cof file as the object file, source debugging works fine in avrStudio4. It's looks like it would be easy to add 3rd party compiler support. What am I missing? You can change the icon to gcc by changing the Object.bmp to avrgcc.bmp. (The mailer kills the word icon between , but it's in the same format as , avrgcc.bmp). The format of the .aps file could be very useful-- any chance of it being published?

Hi Ken

I tried the steps you told, but I don't understand what you mean. What does it?

Have a nice day

If you set to 1 you can load the .cof file generated by gcc and elf2cof. Open your .c source file and when you toggle from disassembler to source, you will be able to set break-points, watch variables, etc. in the c source code.

The quick black AVR jumped over the lazy PIC.

Wasn't AVR STUDIO4 supposed to be extendible so you could use gcc?

Yes, I thought so too.

But on the other hand, it was probably also supposed to work !

I can open a .COF file from Imagecraft C and do source debugging
This capability has existed in the studio 3.5x products bet there have been problems with some variables not being visible etc - apparently due to parsing problems. Studio 4.02 looked more reliable but it's hard to say.
