In that topic, I had use the 40 pins chip,but seem too much.Could I used another chip instead of the 40 pins chip which had the same functions.
I think 16(pwm)+2(tx,rx)+2(crystal)+2(+,-)=22 pins's chips is basic or add little pins.

No 22 pin chips, but there are 28 pin chips (mega8, mega48/88/168).

You would have to do the PWM in software since there are only (IIRC) four hardware PWM channels on them, but it could be done.
