Bootice version 1 PCB picture is attached.

one sided, has minimal functionality to be configured as OCD Debugger. I will post the the laser printer ready images and gerber files as I have them ready.

Thanks for the information on the ICE. I look forward to making one this weekend.

I think there's a couple of mistake in the schematic.

1. The m163 TDI pin is connected to the jtag Vsup.
2. The m163 TMS pin is connected to the jtag TDI pin.

Well none is perfect.
ahm should stop playing word games. well made typo wanted to write
no one (etc me) is perfect.

the schematics in Protel Database is a version I made in maybe 20 minutes
from an old design isp163 I had, so if there are only 2 mistakes then its
close to perfect.

unfortunatly I can not access the protel files over the weekend so can not
fix, and well, folks the info is out there, it does work, the CAD files are public
do I have todo the all?

The schematics (is was) the total minimum, and optimiued for one sided PCB
(in case someone mades them at home with laser printer), the real production
design should be a little more sofisticated.

RST and LED added as minimum.

BTW I just got an message that someone has succeeded to make a working
bootice using Atmega16 (not 163) so thats more good news.

Antti,
If you do get the opportunity, I for one would like to download the updated Protel files from your site. Also the bootice.rom file for the Atmega16 would be helpful.

PS,
Keep up the good work I am sure this project will be a great benefit to a lot of hobbyists for whom the cost of JTAGICE cannot be justified.

Cheers

The Protel files are attached into message before, and also available from
the link in message at start of thread, there is also a bootloader for m163
we just got information that the avr910 boot has been modified and succesfully
tested by one of bootice users :)

when I verify my onw version of m16 bootloader will update the page

the reason the download fails verify may be because the id of the
chip to the s command is for the mega163 not the mega16.
change the final byte of the id sequence from 0x02 to 0x03?
