Should there be a windows driver to use the virtual com port in CDC examples? My Windows 7 box detects the UC3C-EK as unknown device?

Is there a driver package that needs to be installed ?

Thanks /// Carl

It is available at the location
asf->common->services->usb->class->cdc->device->atmel_devices_cdc.inf in the AVR software framework.

I wish that information was written in every example or the documentation of each kit that requires that driver.

I have found this file located at C:\window\inf but it still shows as unknown device.

I am not able to find that path using Atmel Studio 6.

Carl,

Did you ever get your virtual com port working? I am still not able to get this working with my AT32UC3C-EK.

Thank you.

Here is the update:

I download ASF version 2.9 from the following link:

http://www.atmel.com/tools/UC3C-...

After extracting the files the USB driver for the UC3C-EK board will be in the following path:

I used the driver here \..\ASF\asf-standalone-archive-2.9.0\asf-2.9.0\avr32\services\usb\_asf_v1\class\cdc\examples\driver

I then had to edit the .inf file to use the PID of 2310 instead of 2307. I found the currently used PID by checking in device manager.

The virtual com port is working now!
