I just wonder if there is any cheap programing cable that supports the Atmega163?
I know there are some but everyone I have looked at are to expencive.

Doesn't Atmel themselves have one?

Hopefull for any answers!

Download AVRprog (https://www.avrfreaks.net/Tools/s...) and build a programmer from the description in appnote AVR910(https://www.avrfreaks.net/Tools/s...). this should give you a cheap programmer for the ATmega163.
Note. you have to program an AT90S1200 to build this programmer. If you have no programmer for AT90S1200 try the PC based programmer found at http://www.qsl.net/ba1fb/ (http://www.qsl.net/ba1fb/fbprg.zip)

Hi Mago,

I have build an ISP programmer for the AVR family and recently I changed the software to support the MEGA AVR 103. So I don't know if I can help you but you can try to use the free programmer at www.roesink.com. It depends on the file format of your compiler if the software is supporting it, so let me know if you are interested and I can mail you the details

Greetings,
Robert
