Hello,

I found bought a few small motors like this one https://www.sparkfun.com/product...

The diameter of the shaft is about 2mm.

What I don't know is how I would go about mounting something to it.

Where do I buy such equipment and I have a 3d printer available, is it something I could make out of plastic.

Pololu is also an option - you can go to almost any hobby store and find slip-fit gears/pulleys etc. They simply push on!!

Any UK suppliers?

Also would it not be possible to print this using a makerbot?

Sure, you could buy a 3D printer, but buying a $2000 3D printer to make slip-fit parts for a $0.92 motor seems overkill...

Not the UK (Japan in fact):

But I've used them many times and they have never taken more than 7 days to deliver and they send things "anonymously" so you don't tend to be hit by huge import/customs bills. (But you wouldn't anyway - anything under £18 is exempt).
