If your apprnticeship is converfted to a somewhat more 'secure' position, how about just stopping by the folks with power on the asylum floor and tell them to cease with the fancy stuff that they love but is dysfunctional and start with some straight forward KISS solutions like just placing such installers on a plain old HTML page? I realize that this will cause broken selfåconfidence and possibly life-long impotence for the majority of the web-designers when they can not engulf the installers in layers of scripting web-poo, byt you might suggest to the powers that such simplicity might actually work in abeneficial way for the AVR community and in a short while strengthen the Atmel brand, and possibly its sales...

No guarantees, but if we don't report problems they won't get much of  a chance to be fixed! Details/discussions at link given just above.

The tools guys aren't sitting around laughing manically about forcing user registrations - having updates from within Studio is great, and ideally they'd like to package up Studio in a "base download plus whatever you want" a-la-carte style like we want to use it. It's Corporate Marketing with the tented pants over user metrics and the modern website.

I suspect that jabram would like to stick a "working" in there somewhere..

Which is VERY LIKELY to peeeeee people off and they LOSE their market as people WILL go ELSEWHERE.

Please foward this to THOSE PEOPLE "with the tented pants " or are they the types who get easily offended and stay away from this forum and reality as perceived by the very people they are trying to lure into using ATmel products?

Sorry jabram, I'm not on support this week but it should not take more than three days to receive a response from an engineer - I agree that is unacceptable.

Are the emails you are using unusual in some way (special characters, etc.) by chance? If all else fails I can provide raw VSIX and MSI installers for you to patch your system locally if the login problems persist.

OMG !! I received an email about an hour ago from Atmel Technical Support saying they had fixed something on the server, suggesting I should try again.

Guess what ?

It now works, page came up, I filled in State ZIp etc and it WORKED!!

Dean, to answer your question, no funny characters in my email address, did not need to change it.

Amazing huh ?

I have read the other posts, yes, 'Working' is a great idea.

I am hoping this is the last time we need to 'create a new account'

Rats I've been undone. I was planning to update Extension Manager and then AS6 but during the create account process I have to tick agreement to a license agreement and part of that is:

In order to access certain Extension Manager services, you may be required to register and obtain an account.

You will:

Saying I am "Mickey Mouse" is not accurate so how can I get past this?

Also WHY do I have to be age 13 or more (and 13-18 with parental consent) to use Extension Manager? Is it dangerous software that cannot be trusted in the hands of a child?

Ah yes, I see it further on - apparently there is a risk of child pornography - phew I was lucky I couldn't agree to access this den of iniquity!

I also find it hugely ironic that in AS6 the Help menu has "Check for Updates" where I am happily told that "Atmel Studio is up to date" - well that's OK then ;-)

Ok, Michael Mouse, what happens when it says you need to update AS^ will you risk it then ?

You can always close your eyes if you spot any rude bits :-)

I still have instabilities with the avrdbg.exe process on UC3. When i start a debugging session and the target its running free and then i click to stop the debugging session the avrdgb.exe process crashes. The good thing is even if i click to restart the debugging after i close the avrdbg.exe crash windows pop-up it works fine. This wasn't happening before the ASF 3.3 update.

This is happening with both JTAGICE 2 and 3 with an EVK1100 AVR32 UC3 platform ONLY as i don't see it with my xmega192a3 custom board.

How many of you having similar issues ?

It's an old issue I think this problem is persistent until version 5 first press pause / stop then end debug session.

To get the Extension Manager Update:

Start Atmel Studio
Select Tools->Extension Manager
Select Available Downloads
Select Atmel Studio Extension Manager
Download.
If you have not logged in/registered before do so now (a must)
Wait for download to complete (it is 2 Mb) and intallation starts.
Restart Atmel Studio

The new Manager displays more information for download progress and download of large installation packages such as ASF (300 Mb) is started in a browser window and does not block Studio

The problem I have been having for months is that I cannot login, when I enter my information and click signin this "Click to continue to http://ase.atmel.com/Oauth/Oauth..." is displayed in the browser window then when I click the link the screen goes blank.
I reported this months ago on another thread and was never able to resolve has anyone else since had and resolved this problem?

Same initial issue here (I get a "click here" redirect) but clicking it works for me. What browser are you using, and what extensions? If you have cookies or Javascript blocked, that might be breaking the authentication.

Hi mike32217, hi everyone,

I was having the same problem for a couple of months now. Today, I was clicking about, and somehow tried the following:
- Menu Bar -> "Tools" -> "Extension Manager Profile..."
- A Log-In Window similar to the one at "Extension Manager..." appears.
- After typing the credentials, a window "Profile" appears.
- Close it via the upper right Button
- Menu Bar -> "Tools" -> "Extension Manager..."
- Now I chose "Downloads" -> "Updates" -> Extension Manager Update
- This time, I wasn't asked for credentials again, and the download actually started, followed by the installation
- Upon restart of Atmel Studio, the Extension Manager works as expected

Cheers
Joerg

I forgot to mention the fact that somewhere around the time of my above solution I also enabled cookies for domain atmel.com in Internet Explorer (!) - which isn't my default browser either. It's hard to tell which action actually brought success...

No luck!
When I go into Extension Manager Profile I get the exact same thing as when I go into Extension Manager.
I have cookies enabled in IE and FF.

I've downloaded AS6sp2 to install it on my system but I have installed VS2012 and I don't want "VS2010 Isolated Shell" to be installed.

So I deleted VS2010 Isolated Shell from the original downloaded setup.
But when I try to install AS6, after a minute it says that it can not find "data2.cab" file and shows a dialog to browse for that.

Does anybody know how can I integrate AS6 with VS2012 without installing isolated shell?

It's not supposed to interfere with any other VSnnnn installation so why do you see that as a problem?

I installed the original AS5 then AS6 versions on a machine that also has VS2008 and VS2010 and never saw the behaviour of either affected.

VS2010 Isolated Shell must be installed for AS6 to work. It functions alongside VS2012. VS2012 has its own Isolated Shell and does not support applications written for the VS2010 Shell.
