Can someone tell me if the object files generated by GCC provide for debugging in AVRStudio at a C source level rather than debugging the assembly code the compiler probly generates.

Thanks,

Erick

Yes you can debug at C source level, but because AVRGCC doesn't produce a coff file, you can't watch named variables.
When you first load your file into AVR studio, you will see all the initialization code in assembly. You can step through the code until it gets to your main or you can select you c file in the popup menu and then put a breakpoint in your code and let it run up to that point. You can use the {} mode button to switch between c and assembly so you can see exactly how your code was compiled.

Is GCC likely to be able to generate .coff files any time soon?
