Release notes:
-------------------------------------------
Patch update for Atmel Studio 6.0 that corrects some issues with the release.

AVRSV-3626 "“ Each launch session would leak a number of objects due to a missing destructor call. In the case of large ELF files with e.g. lots of macros (compiled with "“g3), this could exhaust the backend memory in a few launches resulting in allocation failure and backend crashes.
AVRSV-3606 "“ When "Use tool polling" is enabled, an active Segger session may be closed unexpectedly.
AVRSV-3161 "“ J-LINK Ultra and Pro tools are not supported.
AVRSV-3632 "“ Wrong criterion used for selecting clock source caused a slowdown in programming speed by a factor of 10 for some devices.
AVRSV-3511 "“ Multiple instances of atprogram might interfere with each other and make tools temporarily unavailable
AVRSV-3588 "“ Stop debugging when running hangs backend for UC3 targets.

This patch also includes fixes for the following issues fixed in Atmel Studio 6.0.1863 public patch1

DEVXML-310 - Debugging of ATmega32HVB does not work
AVRSV-3545 - Programming UC3 is slow compared to AVR Studio 5.1.
AVRSV-3252 - Atprogram and daisy chain: The order of the daisy chain arguments are reversed.
AVRSV-3544 - Automatic enabling of the debugWire interface fails on devices missing the CKDIV8 fuse.

If you have encountered any of these issues, we recommend that you download and apply this patch to your Atmel Studio 6.0 installation.

This patch applies to both Atmel Studio 6.0.1843 and 6.0.1863 and upgrades them to 6.0.1882.
-------------------------------------------

Information about the patch can be found here:
http://ase.atmel.com/Products/De...

NOTE: Until the new patch installer is available on atmel.com, Check for Updates will tell you that your 6.0.(< 1882) installation is up to date. Don't listen to it. It's lying!

If you encounter any download/install problems, please look at the thread for the previous patch for common solutions.

Enjoy! :D

I wonder if the day will ever arrive when "Help-Check for Updates" doesn't simply report "Atmel Studio is up to date"? ;-)

The day is fast arriving. As soon as the web team get to publish the patch installer to atmel.com, it will look like this:

Beautiful, isn't it? Of course, if you download the patch now, you don't get to see it :)

The button says "Open download page"? Why not just "Install update" with no further user interaction? If the update involves having to get an extension manager update before other updates then the software should just "know" this. The user shouldn't be expected to know some complex sequence in which to cast the runes in order to get an update applied. When my Firefox or Adobe Flash or iTunes or whatever say they need an update I just click one button and some time later I'm running the new software.

I also wonder why I need to start Studio to do the download of the update of the Extension Manager, and then need to exit Studio to actually install it. What was the reason to not do the obvious, i.e. download with any decent web browser and the n run the install? It seems there is someone at Atmel that thinks in really convoluted ways..

As of January 15, 2018, Site fix-up work has begun! Now do your part and report any bugs or deficiencies here

No guarantees, but if we don't report problems they won't get much of  a chance to be fixed! Details/discussions at link given just above.

Does Patch 1 have to be installed first?

The exact reason I think I'll just sit back and wait for a complete 6.1 rather than all this incremental updating nonsense.

No.

As the changelog says, patch2 includes patch1 (and if there will be more, they all will be generated from our release tree, which means that they superseeds each other)

Hi
My email signup isn't working.
I receive email newsletters from atmel, but when I use that address to sign into Atmel Studio Extension Manager I never get the confirmation email. The address I'm using is neilh10@azonde.com
Its been happening for a number of months, and I usually try a couple of times - including requesting a password update - and I never get the email.
I have checked my spam folders and my gray mail processing - nothing in there.
I get answers from at91@atmel.com - but I can't seem to sign into getting Studio downloads.
I get emails from other sources on this email address.
I tried signing up creating using a personal gmail email - and it emails me straight away. However when I log in, I doesn't make any downloads available.
It looks to me like its being filtered in some manner on Atmels side. Any suggestions.?
I'm right in the middle of prototyping hardware interfaces for a SAM3X on an Arduino DueX as well as SAM3X-EK. I am at ASF 3.2.1 and I can see the ASF is actively being worked on so it would be nice to be able to keep uptodate.

Well I'm afraid I tried following the instructions at the top of this list - and I wasn't able to download the extensions concerned. As a software engineer, I would guess that something has got very complex and it doesn't appear to be working for me. What I don't know - thats why I'm asking for help. I've spent about 2 hours trying options.

you say that when you log in, then no downloads are available. Does that mean that you are trying to log in from a browser? currently only the built in extension manager provides downloads. are you able to watch available downloads there?

I was trying to login through the Extension Manager. The first time you go in it requires you to login. However this was then presenting me with a window that showed the goodies - the Extensions - but didn't appear to offer them to be downloaded.
On trying again, I found I could download the extension manager update, but it had problems installing - I documented the problems in a message in the browsers - and then somehow that window/tab died. Too many buttons on the screen.
So I started with a clean slate by uninstalling AS6 and redoing everything - which worked .Hurrah.
This was
Extension Manager upgrade & AS6 restart – started up OK.
From the Extension Manager clicked/downloaded the AtmelStudio Patch - as6installer-stable-patch-6.0.1882.exe and then exited AS6 and ran it/installed it
Clicked on the “ARMGCC Version 1.0.0.32” and it downloaded and installed it. Restart AS6 -
From extension manager started download of asf330, but it was the same names as copy downloaded on July19 so canceled download in Chrome browser, exited AS6 and then started as-asf330-msi-stable-6.0.0.144-win32.win32.x86.msi (took 40minutes)
Started AS6, & opening program. Connected SAM-ICE Jtag debugger to target, Pressed “start debugging” button – which forced compile and download. Tool said needed upgrade – but then failed.
Started tool selection and selected the SAM3X-EK SAM3XH device – now worked.
Downloaded a test program and it worked.
Upgraded JLinkCDCInstaller_V1.2b.exe
Started back working on my code successfully with the code helper operational.
So now been running for 1hr able to program OK. However the connection to the JLink is timing out – so completing this message before trying to fix that. :)

Is it a Atmel Studio timeout or a jlink timeout? If it is a box in Studio that says something along the lines "Wait for X minutes or stop waiting", then there is probably some connection issues with the JLink... Are you using it through hubs or similar? May be wise to try a direct connection to you pc

Its the "Wait for X minutes" and appears the USB link is no longer findable. It is going through a hub- I'll try moving it to a direct port. Thnks.
BTW the tools/AS6 are great - especially bringing in the ARM toolset - I know it takes a lot of effort to get them stable - and right now they are slow to startup - but really appreciate the work that is done to keep them stable, constructing ASF driver/examples and hearing what isn't working. :)

Is there any indication in the Extension Manager that the AtmelStudio Patch has been applied, similar to the checkmark that appears after applying the Atmel Studio Extension Manager update?

Probably not, as we only used the extension gallery as a distribution channel (which is faster than waiting for it to go on atmel.com) as it contained some critical fixes. The easiest way to see is that the version of Atmel Studio goes up to 6.0.1882

Would it be possible to maintain a listing/table that maps versions to "SP/patch levels" and release dates on the Atmel website?

E.g.

Version Patch Released
6.0.1843 RTM 2012-??-??
6.0.1863 Patch 1 2012-??-??
6.0.1882 Patch 2 2012-08-07

EDIT: Oh... And a link to the relese notes for each of them..

On all atmel accounts and tools including extension manager there is a blocker disabling my email:
kbosak@box43.pl
I cannot logon, download, anything. Madness.

It happens with some companies, but the hell, .pl is not French Polynesia to ignore! You nordic ppl have passed the limit - now you will pay for the insult

All those damn confirmation mails are NOT SENT to me despite what website says. Cmoon I use it for 10 years on different services and it worked! This shit is just refusing to work because there is 4 and 3 in server name - VERY ABNORMAL letters in fact.
