Should have learnt my lesson from Studio 5 which never worked properly but I figured that version 6 should be better surely?
Installed 6 and the SP1 patch. Start studio 6 and I keep getting a box saying it's waiting for something and in the console appears "TCF Command: Stream:setLogBits timed out" 3 times. No idea what it's trying to communicate with. Both an AVR One! and a Dragon are attached to the PC both of which work fine with Studio32.
Tried to change the default location for projects but each time I restart studio it reverts back to the original location.
Tried to create a simple gcc project, select the UC3 range but the list of processors is empty and the console now adds a very helpful "Exception of type 'System.Exception' was thrown" and no project is created. In fact there are no processors listed of any type!
Now saw that SP2 was available so ran the Extension Manager to check for downloads and it's been stuck in a not responding state for 30 minutes.
All this is under Windows 7 64 bit. I only tried Studio 6 as it seemed the simplest way of getting the latest ASF but now I figure I should just download the standalone ASF and work out how the hell to get that working with Studio32.
To add insult to injury I can find no evidence of the ASF anywhere within the install directory anyway!
Is it just me or are Atmel actively trying to discourage people from using their processors?
