A by now common problem. Studio 5 can't start a debug session. First I must say that I HAVE succeded using Studio 5 before and with the same install. (5.0.1163).

I am now trying with both a new project and an old one with another MCU. Both is running just fine in Studio 4.

Opening the old project (COF file, Mega32) results in this error:

====
AVR Studio was unable to start your debug session.
Please verify that the debugger is correctly attached to the target and that target power has been switched on. Also verify that the correct device and interface settings have been specified in the project.

TCF command: Tool:setProperties failed: Code:1 ,Service:Tool ,Message from peer:Null pointer

I have downgraded and upgraded my mkII again several times, nothing helps.

Second try with the new project for mega1284 gives the same result although I before saw a different result with other strange errors.

What is happening here?

My favorites:
1. My oscilloscope, Yokogawa DLM2024.
2. My soldering iron, Weller WD2M, WMRP+WMRT.
3. JTAGICE3 debugger.

I did a total reinstall of both Microsoft Visual Studio 10 shell and AVR Studio 5 and voilà everything is working!

Can it be so easy? Many other people had experienced similar problem.
