Is there no support debugging (using debugwire) the ATMega8 in AVR studio? When selecting the debugging platform at the beginning, any mega8 options are all greyed out (for any platform slected). I am using the AVR dragon board via ISP. I can obviously access the AVR ISP dialog menu with fuse settings and such (and set ATMega8L in the configuration settings for the project), and I can program it from here, but why won't it let me select it in the platform? If I could then I could enter debugwire and begin debugging. If I try to debug now I obviously get an error because it is not looking for the ATmega8 since I can't select that from the debug menu.

Using AVRstudio 4.18 build 716 with AVR toolchain

It would require nothing short of a miracle as the ATmega8 itself contains no debug silicon!

There is very little reason to use the mega8 in this day and age when the far superior (and pin compatible) Atmega88PA exists (and IT has debugWire).

Oh ok, yes I guess the datasheet does not mention degbugWire. It is not critical, I was mainly wondering why it is greyed out but you have answered my question. Thanks!
