Someone should really build a windows version of Avrdude 5.11 so we all can get bitbang tpi support.
Right now programming the Tiny4/5/9/10 is a nightmare.

Is really the ISP MK2 the ONLY programmer that supports external TPI programming? The STK600 only supports onboard via target-board and always runns 12v on reset.

With Avrdude 5.11 all we'll need is a ftdi/PL breakout board and a single resistor.
Works on linux, but I fail at building avrdude for windows... Please somebody, build it!

@clawson I have tried.
@gchapman that defeats the point of using a bitbang programmer.

I'll have 5.11 + some new patches for Win32 up on http://helix.air.net.au later today. AVRDUDE 5.11 also supports the FTDI x232C/D/H chips in the super fast SPI mode as well (not bit bangers).
