Hello,

i am going to build a home automation system conrolled through my home network.
Does anybody know which bytes are send by the client to obtain an ip address from the dhcp server?
I have been watching on the internet for some information, but it's not 100% clear to me.
Can anyone help me?

You should use Sniffer to see ethernet frame

You can use Ethereal as a snooper tool to listen to Ethernet conversations.

it works!! i use now etherdetect in combination with ethereal. and the rfc is also clear to me.
