I'm fairly newbie at AVR's & uc's in general. I'm just using BASCOM at this point and toying with a couple of 2313's. I want the advantage of the ADC's and the internall clock in the tiny26 but the 2313 has the uarts. Can I use the USI in the tiny26 the same way I would use the uart in the 2313 (at least in BASCOM)?

Thanks for any help,

Marc

I don't know off the top of my head. But the "devices" section here has a feature comparison map that may help you pick one device that has all the features you're looking for.

I don't know about the USI, but you could use a soft UART in Bascom.

The tiny26 USI "can be used as a UART"
there is an app note on it.
It still requires some code and an interrupt routine.
I am not sure it is much better than a software UART.

Thanks for the input. I think I'll go with the software UART in Bascom for now.
