Do you mean writing messages in the sky with a plane?

I'm going to guess it's some sort of POV display.

no we have the message written and it will be shown with 5 lights when we move it back and forwards.

we have the button so it knows when it gets to one end so it can write the word in a backwards way.

no we have a stick than we will be wagin(?) front and back.
and the sensor will be sending a signal when its in one end so it can display the word backwards

What you describe is a POV (Persistence of Vision) display. As it relies on persistence of vision to form the entire image.

Why do you need to change the text direction when the wand changes direction?

And if you can write text one way (can you?) why can't you work out how to write it backwards when some input pin value changes because the direction changes (or is the pin changing the bit you can't understand?)?

See - I've got more questions than you have! Shows that we are struggling to understand the actual problem to be honest..
