I am looking for CANIF information in the new 32117A"“10/2010 data sheet for the AT32UC3C chips and the new application note AVR32129: Using the 32-bit AVR UC3 CANIF.

I am not able to find anything about Time Triggered CAN (TTC) support. It seems TTC would require a single Tx without any automatic error retries, and a SOF or EOF time stamp.

The data sheet 29.1 Features "single shot vs automatic mode" seems to simply be an automatic switch between Remote Frame and Data Frame modes. It does not appear to have anything to do with TTC.

The AT32UC3C series of processors have been available for quite a while for selected customers. I have worked with those for over a year. We are already manufacturing boards with those devices.

I was wondering if anyone that is familiar with these chips could shed any light on TTC support in the CANIF.

Is it possible to use the new CANIF module in TTC implementations, or is CANIF only for asynchronous timing CAN implementations?

Did you read the UC3C datasheet? http://atmel.com/dyn/products/pr...

Yes, this is the new rev. A UC3C data sheet with the CANIF description in it. I also read the CANIF application note.

I liked everything I read about the CANIF, except I could not find anything that would support Time Triggered CAN operation in either document. I though maybe CAN frame time stamping might be available in another module configuration, but I could not find anything there either. I'm not saying it is not there, I'm only asking if I missed something. Especially since I presume a CAN module without TTC would have a real uphill battle in the automotive market, so I really expected TTC support to be included in CANIF.

Ah, sorry, I failed to see that you actually referred to the datasheet. If you can't find what you need in the datasheet or the application note, send an email to avr32@atmel.com telling them to improve the datasheet. And of course give you the details you need ;)
