anyone use a LNK306TN or similar?

Hi all,

Has anyone used a Power Integrations AC-DC Off-Line Switcher such as a LNK306TN to power a low power circuit such as ATMEGA MCU? This IC takes in high voltage DC and converts it to a regulated low voltage output. This would be ideal for some projects I have in mind. It could completely eliminate a tranformer's cost, size, weight, etc. I know the output is not isolated from the AC lines, but that's the only downside I can see. I guess layout might be critical too.

I went to a PI seminar last week, the lunch was OK. You can now download the latest PI expert design sofware ( V8 ) from their website.

Lower efficiency (switches at 100/120 Hz) are SR086 or SR087 from Supertex:
