This is from a question that often pops up in the "Little Brother" section :-)
Some ppl. says that updating the Atmel tools is an issue (new firmware) , but i was actually wondering if there was some tools for the AVR32 , to update STK-600 , Dragon , ISP-MKII and JTAGICE-MKII , they might work for the avr firmware also (the firmware might even be the same).
There is some confusion about updating the Atmel tools with new firmware , if an 8-bit AVR developer leaves Windows for Linux. As AvrStudio seems to be the only way to update the tools , and as "wine" doesn't like the Atmel/Windriver usbdriver , AvrStudio & usb is useless in wine.
I was wondering what AVR32 Linux users does ?
And if the firmware is the same for the USB tools , then we might have a solution for the 8-bit users. Even if we need to install Avr32Studio , or a subset.
If the firmware isn't the same , can we just "bring/use" our AvrStudio xxx.bin files ?
Can any Atmel "Guru" shed some light on this ?
