I found this on hackaday: http://letsmakerobots.com/node/1...

Pretty cool project, and I've gone ahead and bought some of the sensors. However, I can't seem to find a couple diametrically magnetized magnets for a reasonable price. I've found them at a couple stores for cheap (~$0.25/ea.) but the shipping was >$15!

Anyone know where I can find these kinds of magnets, either for a reasonable price, or perhaps as salvage from old equipment?

Search diametric magnet on ebay and you will find two sellers.

I bought from this guy: http://cgi.ebay.ca/NEODYMIUM-MAG...

Problem is the size is much larger than is needed, so I'm not sure if it will fit in your servo. I had no luck finding the small size without high shipping costs as you mention.

Cool, thanks, that's not so bad. The 1cm magnets shouldn't be a problem at all.

Well, I already got it working by using a 6mm cube magnet. And let me say, it works like a charm. Don't need to do a thing in the world to get absolute encoding going aside from hook up +, -, and the PWM pin. While the chip can do a lot more, the default mode is already perfect for my needs.
