Hi All,

Has anyone had success debugging an ATxmega32A4? I just switched my project from the 16A4 to the 32A4 and now AVRStudio crashes whenever I "Start Debugging". Windows (XP) says it's the "jtagtargeticeii.dll" that's offending.

I'm able to load code via the jtagicemkii using the programming window, and if I revert to the 16A4 all is well.

Have you changed the target chip for debugging and not just the chip?

Yep, everything is configured correctly. I was able to get it working by forcing an upgrade of the jtagicemkii firmware. Now, trying to debug the original 16A4 crashes AVRStudio. I am able to load code via the programming panel, so I'm not completely dead in the water.

It is ironic that over my three decades of debugging embedded stuff, the most fragile programs I've ever encountered are the debuggers.

Grrr.

Today I did the exact same thing (16A4 -> 32A4) on AVR Studio 4.17 with the exact same result. That is, it crashed :(

Hi, I have had similar problem with the XMega32A4. Does anyone have any pointers on the way forward. I cannot find any patches nor information in errata from Atmel?

I've just got some 32A4 chips, and am designing a PCB. I'll see what happens when I try it out.
