Can we please have a sticky notifying us about the latest release of AVRStudio? That way we don't have to remember to visit the Atmel web site and wade through the links to find this information.

Thanks.

How about leaving it to Atmel to update the version number in one place [*] and you creating a shortcut in your browser to the page that Atmel maintains? One click - bam!

Redundant information will inevitabely lead to non-updated information. Example of this is right here on this site, in the tools section. This page is almost what you are asking for (although not a thread in a forum): https://www.avrfreaks.net/index.p... . It states version 4.13. On the Atmel page that you would create a shortcut to ( http://www.atmel.com/dyn/product... ) the version at the time of writing is 4.15.

[*] Oh, well.. There is the site with the beta version also, for those that want bleeding edge or can't stand registering with Atmel for the umphteenth time..

EDIT: I might consider altering my opinion on this matter if you promise under oath to always update the sticky you are suggesting, on the day that Atmel updates it's page, and that you will never miss this.. 8)

No guarantees, but if we don't report problems they won't get much of  a chance to be fixed! Details/discussions at link given just above.

That's the whole point of the sticky. Out of all our members, someone is bound to spot the latest release and tell us about it.

Still, noone has, to my knowledge, reported that the page in the tools section of this site is lagging with more than a year.

I still think that this link, http://www.atmel.com/dyn/product... , supplies exactly the information that you ask for, and is updated when the latest AVR Studio is released on that very same page. Right out of the horses mouth, as the saying goes. Just set a bookmark. How hard can it be? (Ctrl-D in Firefox. Favourites menu, Add to favorites... in IE).

I check AVR® 8-Bit RISC - What's Changed often.

New AVR data sheets, app notes and software tools appear there --- together.
There is no stupid registration requirement (yet) to download the latest version of Studio4.

Stuff sits there for about 30 days.

Ctrl+D works universally, AFAIK. Done. :D

btw. your second link is broken (the , at the end of the URL is messing things up).

That is because that page is not part of the forum. Most of us stick to the forum.

Now that was refreshing news to me! Let's keep that our official secret so that the Atmel marketing and legal people wont notice and require registration there too. Shhh...

Thanks Stan. That's even better. :D I've registered at Atmel so many times over the years that I've totally lost count. :P

To be fair I think a member of the Studio development team has made a post here each time something new has been made available on www.atmel.no/beta_ware - so just read this forum each day and you will know about any developments. Also perhaps sign up to the RSS feed?

Or, when in AVR Studio, goto help->Check for Program Upgrade.

And you'll find out that version 4.15 has been released (but I guess, you guys know that by now).
