In critical applications you want to make sure the processor is operating correctly
before letting it perform its normal tasks. Just wondering if anybody has experience with implementing things like
CRC checks for the code, checkerboard tests for the SRAM, and general sanity checks for the ATMEL processor. Any advice would be appreciated.

Marc,

I've implemented a bootloader which checks at first for a valid application and only if the CRC is valid it starts the application. Otherwise it is waiting for new application code. Maybe this is something your are looking for.

It uses the CRC-function provided with WinAVR/AVR-GCC.

This certainly sounds useful! Can you give some details? Thanks.
