You generally refer to a Christian date as the number of days since 1 January 0001. i.e (2008 - 1) * 365.25 + 6 * 30.6 + 30. Then you have to adjust between the Julian and Gregorian calendar.

Now the point that I am making is that you just have an arbitrary start date (01-01-0001) and you add or subtract whatever arbitrary start date when the Sun first started shining.

e.g. if it is Wednesday in the Gregorian calendar, it will be the equivalent named day in the Solar calendar.

You just add or subtract the difference. e.g. the Chinese year starts several days after the Gregorian new year. so you subtract that number of days to convert.

David.
