Does anyone know where to buy transformers(for the luminescent strip) that are in watches? I need a 1:100 bump up.

Digi-Key sells them... They are 5VDC in, 100VAC out.

They're usually located just after the HD44780 text based displays in the Digi-Key catalog.

Great thread title. Reminds me of those signs you see; "Watch batteries fitted". Although watching transformers sounds even more boring.
