I am not sure if it a good idea to post the mail address here, because spammers might grap it.

Joerg and I don't advertise the fact a lot because we have both been members of AVR Freaks long before we became Atmel employees. We try not to let the fact "get in the way" of helping others. Joerg works in the group that designed the AT86RF230, the radio chip on the Raven.

So then, what do you do for Atmel? I know you've written some application notes and other helps. I suppose that should have been a clue. But when you're naturally clueless!!! The clueless have a tendency to miss many of the key indicators, as I have.

And I know that you have something to do with WinAVR (I think)...

Really, I feel bad now! I didn't mean to slight you and Joerg.

Thanks magnusp.
I'm asking about dimensions because I'm interested in interfacing RF chip into my project of home automation system. So it will be great if it can fit into wall switch. I can't imagine designing my own PCB for 2.4GHz, so buying ready to use kit is probably the only solution.

BTW. I hope you've got my PM :D

Thanks to all.

Uooouu :)!!!...
Now we just need some application to try it out :)

I guess we could make a "new avrfreaks forum post" device to have in
the TV room to warn us about new messages when we're watching TV :)

Or an on-the-house "SMS" transeiver so we can PM each other and discuss
AVRs without being on the computer :)

Or can use it as a remote to control the heating etc of our homes :)

Or :)....

Can't wait for these kits to become available. In fact I'm waiting with bated breath!

Finally a kit that looks like the price won't break the budget to play with RF.

I can't make up my mind if I am upset I didn't post in this thread earlier or glad that I won't have another toy around to distract me from filing my taxes on time this year...

I bet if I asked my wife, she would make up my mind for me.

These kits look sweet. Wireless stuff has been expensive. With a relatively cheap solution I think we'll see a lot of cool stuff happening.

What is with all these new folks with one post suddenly showing up? Yes, I'm paranoid, but am I paranoid enough? Can anybody check the ISPs to see if they are all from the same place?

With great technology such as the new XMEGAs, I think Atmel is well-poised to see that become reality.

So at 3 and change ATML is a good buy? My opinion is yes, but the eco is under a cloud right now.

I'm currently working with TI parts, but so far Atmel tips the scales in many ways.

You didn't see the Atmel post a few pages back about all posters before that message were to get a free RZRaven? It probably got swamped and lost in the noise of the aforementioned hopeful new signups...

It also makes slow posters (like myself) reply to
the thread. Usually I get all my questions answered
by RTFF, after I've RTFM.

The Raven though, seems like a very nice kit to get
me started with wireless. That will bring up a long
line of new questions, so maybe it could even make
me post some of my own.

Cheers,

Hey, watch it! I'm the original Dragon slayer. But probably the only individual who really slayed the Dragon. All of the rest of the dead Dragons died a premature death as a result of some genetic defect. You can't hold the title "Dragon Slayer " unless you actually slayed the thing as a result of some event while in the act of experimenting - like shorting 24VDC to the thing.

No, no, touching the power supply with your finger, or the simple act of plugging the thing into the PC USB port doesn't count.

As such, I'm a rare breed! Rare, indeed...

By the way, I found an interesting note in the Dragon help files of AVRStudio. Anybody care to speculate? Hint: it's in the "Requirements" section of the Dragon help file.

Hi there,

I also got one of the RAVEN Eval Kits from ATMEL. Beautiful Kit. But I can't find the "AVR Wireless PC Suite" whitch is described in the "AVR2015: RZRAVEN Quick Start Guide". Any ideas where to download it?

Thanks.

That looks to me like an AVR emulator, like the ancient ICEs that replace the AVR in the circuit. Far too big of a cable to be just a control interface like JTAG, so I'd bet money on it being a modern ICE.

Perhaps it's an internal Atmel product for testing of new designs?

The bigger cable is for NEXUS support if I'm not mistaken, as from that picture it looks to be plugged into the NEXUS port on an EVK1100.
