My favorite uC vendor is acquiring my favorite touch IC vendor. Nice.

To celebrate, here's a link to a touch.lbr Eagle library. It has one part, QWHEEL_4BUTTONS_UP. The wheel and buttons are on the component side and are meant to be adhered to the inside top of a case. If you don't mount it to the inside top of a case, you'll want to cover the top of the PCB with something to prevent fingers from directly touching the thru-hole pads in the center of the touch buttons.

In the design I'll use this on, the wheel and top 3 buttons are connected to a QT1106. The center button may be connected to a QT102 for a power-on/off feature. If you connect to the center button, be sure to run the trace on the bottom side so that it does not cross multiple sections of the wheel. Feel free to modify this library to fit your own design. If you do modify or add to this library, please post it back here.

The wheel in the package was created by using the GERBER to EAGLE script converter in the Eagle PCB Power Tools package with the Gerber file provided by Quantum Research.

*** The script file placed the wheel on layer 118, be sure to include this layer during CAM processing of the top layer when creating your Gerber files - thank goodness for Gerber viewers. Let me know if you know how to move this to layer 1.

Enjoy!
Tom

EDIT: Touched up a minor misalignment between the P$6 pad and its surrounding (center top) touch pad. Note: you could replace the thru-hole pads on the top three touch pads with SMD pads. I decided to use thru-hole pads because I had to route the traces on the other side of the board anyway.

Added link to image of package.

Yummy, Delphi made isn't it? i love it.
Suggestion: make the how-to-use too instead of the software itself. It helps people to understand working with your software.

Good job. Thanks.

Wrong topic, perhaps?

Interesting note from the Quantum Research web site...

Quote:
IMPORTANT NOTE

Some QTouch devices are based on Microchip silicon. Since the pending acquisition of Quantum by Atmel was announced Microchip has decided to raise its prices to us by as much as 280%. Accordingly we can no longer recommend these devices for new designs, and any new or unconfirmed orders of existing Microchip based devices will face substantially higher prices.

The QT102 is one of the Microchip based parts. This was a nice part for a one button on/off toggle.

Hmm, I wonder if they'll become more hobbyist friendly with the acquisition, love their chips though ;']

Hi,

The link for your Eagle touch library (Touch.lbr) no longer works.
Is there a place where I can download this from?

Thanks,

Neil.

Kind Regards,

Neil Wrightson.
