On a daughterboard for the NGW100 that I'm designing, I'll be adding RS232 transceivers to usart2 & usart3 for txd, rxd, cts, and rts. Being rather new at Linux on the AVR32, can anyone tell me if support for these two ports already exists in the kernel? Does it include support for RTS/CTS as well? Is there anything unique about the serial ports that I should know going into this?

Thanks,

Tom

You just need to add the appropriate calls in your board startup code in the kernel then recompile.

All serial ports are equal, they all support hardware handshaking though like all serial ports in Linux this will need to be enabled by appropriate use of termios.

If I get a spare millisecond one of the things on my to-do list is to add kernels with various USART support combinations to my kernel repo (see sig) though that probably won't be for a week or so.

OK, will do. Thanks for the reply! Adding USB Host, RFID receiver, Modem, and several other items to this daughter board. Let the fun begin...
