hi guys,

After I uninstalled the old WINAVR20070525 and installed WINAVR20071221, and recompile some of the old codes, then I always got a error:

Quote:

d:/tools/winavr-20071221/bin/../lib/gcc/avr/4.2.2/../../../../avr/bin/ld.exe: : No such file: No such file or directory

But I checked this directory, the ld.exe is there.

So why?

Cheng

yes, it's:

Hi all
I have the same problem, spent 2-3-4 hours in and uninstalling; win XP

I always install the latest version in c:\program files\WinAVR

renamed dir WinAVR to WinAVRold

Path = OK
compile = OK
make finds ld.exe but seems to transfer the wrong files

with the old winavr version no problem

removed all WINAVRs
cleaned registry, all keys and values with winavr
cleand my office
went for a walk
installed fresh in default dir c:\winavr..
same problem

On a second PC: Ok!
On a third PC: same error!
what is going on?

Dig

I just tried again with WINAVR20071221, it seems the problem indeed come from my makefile. My makefile came from the makefile template of WINAVR20070521, and I had a small change for bootloader address setting and another one for output bin file on this makefile and it always worked fine, but now with WINAVR20071221, it will give out the above mentioned problem.

my makefile:

The change for bootloader flash address setting was "LDSECTION" at linker options:

LDFLAGS = -Wl,-Map=$(TARGET).map,$(LDSECTION),--cref

and in most of normal application makefiles, I didn't define this "LDSECTION". But now if I add this definition,

LDSECTION  = --section-start=.text=0x00000
[

then the WINAVR20071221 will compile the applications corectly most of the time, but in one application, I got another strange warning:

Quote:

C:\DOCUME~1\ITM\LOCALS~1\Temp/ccA71eBG.s: Assembler messages:
C:\DOCUME~1\ITM\LOCALS~1\Temp/ccA71eBG.s:2135: Warning: expression dangerous with linker stubs
C:\DOCUME~1\ITM\LOCALS~1\Temp/ccA71eBG.s:2136: Warning: expression dangerous with linker stubs

so why?

That warning can be safely ignored. We had a patch to binutils that had that warning removed. An earlier version of that patch was committed to binutils that still had that warning in it. This wasn't caught until that release of WinAVR. So now the binutils repository has been corrected, and the next release of WinAVR also takes out that warning again. Sorry for the hassle.

ok, great, thanks.

But why do I had to add LDSECTION to make the compiler works in 20070221?
