Anyone know of any new AVR books coming out ? Most of the ones I've seen (at least in english) are from 1998 or 2000, so tend to be missing most of the cool new stuff ...
Dean.

Wow. No responses for several days here. Does that mean that no-one has any information at all on any newer books ?
How about recommendations for currently published ones ?
Dean.
You will find that if you are talking data then you are expected in this day and age to pull it of the web or a cd and kill your own forest.

I emailed the Atmel literature address and asked if they had data/instruction books on the AVR's. They said yes and sent me an old one dated '99. 3.5 pounds. Probably doesn't cover the Megas, but other than that...
Hi Dean,
I take it from your original message that you found the books by the Indian and German authors (sorry, can't remember their names). Those 2 and the book from Kanda are the only ones I am familiar with. If you would like more info on those I can find it and post it here. Otherwise I just don't remember the titles, etc.
On an off topic note....it used to be lots of fun going out to the distributor reps car and raiding their car trunk for data books. I guess it shows how sick I am if I think that was fun, LOL.
Regards,
Steve
Sonny,
What do you think of the book by Gadre ?
I've got it too, and think the name of the book is completly wrong.
It's really not a book about programming the AVR's, and certainly not customizing.
How do you customize a chip when it's already manufactured...??
It's a good book if you're new to AVR's, microcontrollers or maby electronics, but I rarely open it.
If it says 'Programming' in the title, it should mean that.
I bought the book on the net, I didn't read it prior to the purchase.

Gadre's book is pathetic. Badly organized, half of it is cut-and-paste stuff from websites (much of which isn't relevant) and the other half is weirdly selected for a book on "programming" an AVR. I think he just shotgunned out a bunch of requests to reprint stuff, and put the book together in the order the responses came back in.
My disk for programming and customizing the avr cracked. Is there any way someone can send me the info on the disk or upload it to an ftp site? The code for the frequency counter is on it and its hard to learn without the code example. Thanks.
Brian
If I owned this book, which I don't, I would make you a copy of its CD provided you mailed me the damaged one (which I would return) as proof of ownership. Perhaps someone who does own the book will make a similar offer.
I do have the broken one and I can send it to anyone that can make a copy. (I wouldn't want it back, lol)
Very odd to revive a 5 year old thread to ask this question.
What book is this CD from or is it even from a book?
Smiley
Smiley, it's from the "programming and customizing the AVR". At least he said so...
I was just looking for the proper place to post the question, I guess I could have started a new one. The CD is from "programming and customizing the AVR". It broke while in the storage unit. Another thing instead of mailing a broken cd to verify is give me any page and paragraph to quote to show I have the book. either way works. I could also hook up a web cam to show live video of the book and cd.
I have the book/CD but sorry, no deal. I would contact the publisher and see if they'll replace the CD:
Hello Brian
I have the book + cd ,and seeing as it breaks no copyright law in the uk to make a single backup of the original disc i am willing to make you a copy ,provided you mail me a self addressed jiffy for the return cd.
Stephen
ps contact via pm if this is acceptable.

The book's author: Dhananjay Gadre and some of his students have posted here and a google search on the author's name should lead to contact information.

Thanks for everyones help. I got the ASM files so I can learn from the book. I have looked at programs here but alot of them are over my head right now.
