I use studio 4.12.460 and elf files created with avr-gcc 3.4.1 in combination with a JTAG-ICE MK2 and a mega64.

Often I have to single-step (F11) several times (up to 15 on some lines) before Studio advances to the next line of code. The same happens with stepping-over (F10). I must mention that the response after every keypress is still quick and my disassembly window is NOT switched on.

I cannot think that this is a Studio bug because nobody else complained about it? Its been a while since I used debugwire, but as far as I can remember it didn't give me this problem.

I searched for ths problem and only found this very old post. I have had the same problem with both Studio 4.12 and 4.13 SP1. I think it have come and gone with different versions of AVR Studio. Anyway, this problem is very irritating and it would be great to get rid of it.
I use ICCAVR.

My favorites:
1. My oscilloscope, Yokogawa DLM2024.
2. My soldering iron, Weller WD2M, WMRP+WMRT.
3. JTAGICE3 debugger.

Try the disassembly view so you can see wht the processor is REALLY doing. Of course I don't have any problem with ASM :)

Johann why are you still using an old version of Studio?

Johanns post is two years old, thats the reason for the old version.

Of course, the assembler view will show that the MCU is mostly doing several instruction for one line C-code but this behaviour is not how it is supposed to be.

2. My soldering iron, Weller WD2M, WMRP+WMRT.
