Wow - Just looked at DigiKey and Mouser and MicrochipDirect.

None of three has stock on the Mega328PB or Mega328P. DigiKey and Mouser have no forecast on delivery! Microchip says Nov 7. This is scary when your one product depends on that part!

Tell me about it! My problem is the XmegaE5 type ANY OF THE three would be OK angry Microchip doesn't even bother replying to a general inquiry which is supposedly answered within 24 hours,

so far just over 2 weeks and waiting!

John, you may recognise the name... Ron Finemore was interviewed on the radio yesterday. He mentioned that he has 50 heavy haulage trucks on order from Germany. They are all held up in the factory by lack of "chips".

My board stuffer says that some of their clients are resorting to buying assembled demo board and take the chips out for their own products. surprise

I've been waiting for the GPU market to return to normal in particular the RTX3080 board.

I'd thought about buying a prebuilt system with the GPU installed and replacing the GPU with the one I have, which would make it a lot more affordable but didn't think it ethical.

Happy Trails,

Mike

Yep, it's getting tough for sure. I use ST MCUs as well and they are in worst shape.
I've resorted to using Mega1280s or mega2560s. If I'm not using alot of memory for a design, I've been using the mega88s. ATmega324PA-MCH have some stock. I had to resort to doing redesigns and buying stock for the next six months.

You should check out the newegg shuffle (https://www.newegg.com/product-s...) if you haven't already. I was able to get an RTX3080 through it a few months back, and all my friends but one who have managed to get RTX 30-series cards have done so via the shuffle. The one who didn't got his via the EVGA queue.

build-avr-gcc: avr-gcc build script

toolchain-avr-gcc: CMake toolchain for cross compiling for the AVR family of microcontrollers

avr-libcpp: C++ standard library partial implementation (C++17 only) for use with avr-gcc/avr-libc

picolibrary: C++ microcontroller driver/utility library targeted for use with resource constrained microcontrollers

picolibrary-microchip-megaavr: picolibrary HIL for megaAVR microcontrollers

picolibrary-microchip-megaavr0: picolibrary HIL for megaAVR 0-series microcontrollers

I was walking into Microcenter & noticed ropes & some signs outside about lining up for some kind of graphics cards...thought it was strange, all these notices about you can only get one, something about you will be randomly selected to get a purchase voucher on mondays, and wenesdays, need 10 forms of ID, etc.   Apparently there must be some shortage of video cards.

Covid / mandates et all, has created such a shortage of truck drivers, CA schools have started special ed classes for high school senors to train them for their CDL (commercial drivers license) and big rig training classes.

The thought of 17 Yr olds driving 18 wheeller's is sooooo  comforting, but if it gets the goods off the ships, who knows, maybe it will help with the shortages.....

Two CPN have reels arriving late-Dec'21; MOQ is low enough for a SMB/SME to order a partial reel.

P.S.

Some AVRxt have a reduced lead time versus AVRe+.

In a pinch perhaps some of these boards might do the job:

If ya willing to pay a rip off price:

There's plenty of 'em in landfills from all the VCRs', toasters, digital thermostats, etc that are tossed out like trash every year...mining for gold!

Good thing my next product is at least a year out! But, I DO fear my current stock of built boards running out!

I've had to do so many redesigns this year because of the microchip shortage it's crazy.  Even reviving old designs because that was the only chip we could get. Is crazy times and does not seem to be ending any time soon.
