Which chip in RGB light bulb with IR remote.

I got some 7W RGB light bulbs for us$2 with IR remote.

 

Does anyone know which chip it's using? (I have not taken one apart yet)

 

What I really want is a AVR controlling the colour either from IR (all colours and not only the about 20 you can make from the remote), or direct into the chip/LED, and in that case feed it all from 12 or 24V.   

 

I know that the chip inside can do many colours bacause it also have some colour fading/changing modes.

I found out that volume up on from my remote to the satellite box, make it change colour for every press (a function that's not on the normal remote)

 

So are there a standard for those IR remotes ?

As the instructions for this Universal Remote Control show, there are many, many different code sets used for the name brand devices.

 

Entering a different setup code in the universal remote just maps the keypad to a different code table, pre-installed within the universal remote.

Edit:

In addition to TV's, etc., I also do not believe that there is a cross-manufacturer IR standard for light bulbs, either.

 

There is no market driven force to encourage such a practice.

You  haven't said what make or model of lightbulb it is!

 

 

Probably the easiest approach is to set up an IR "sniffer", and see what the supplied remote is sending ...

there is a really great IR Remote Library by Ken Shirriff that can detect what communication protocol the transmitter uses, you will have to hookup a ir sensor to arduino using pin 3 i guess, download the library and upload the ir remote info example. most probably it would be NEC.

Thanks but:

what I really was after was a datasheet (I is/was assuming all those light bulbs use the same chip ).

 

The real reason was what a said in #2, but have later found out that the org remote also can do that.

 

And what I really wanted was a way to set it to any RGB colour.
