Freaks,

The Tutorials forum is a new forum (started in February of 2006) and is designed to be an easily searchable and accessible repository for the knowledge of its users. The forum should be used for posting either a complete tutorial (in plain text or as an attachment) which teaches a reader how to acomplish a well-defined goal or a code snippet which also acomplishes a well-defined goal.

All AVR-Related tutorials (and code snippets with annotations and descriptions of how the code works and what the code does) are accepted here, but please read the other stickies here to learn how to use the topic "tags" which help ease searching.

Please do not post question threads or requests for help in this forum. Such posts will be deemed off-topic and will either be deleted outright or shifted to a more appropriate forum section. All posts here should be about educating others, not requests for education - that is reserved for the other technical forums here at AVRFreaks.

My name is Dean Camera and I am the forum moderator for this tutorials section (and also the co-moderator of the off-topic section) of AVRFreaks as well as a very active member of the other AVRFreaks forum sections. Please feel free to approach me at any time either by email (dean_camera AT hotmail DOT com) or via a PM in these forums.

    I find it ironic that this stickied thread marked "PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING" has on of the lowest pageviews in this section. Please read!

    An appendium to the above message. Many users would prefer to be able to save tutorials here in a format convenient for later viewing. If possible, please provide a PDF attachment to your tutorials containing the full tutorial text. Other formats are acceptable, but PDF is standardised across different OS platforms and is thus convenient.

    A big thank you to all those who have contributed thusfar, and I believe I speak for many users here when I say your efforts are well appreciated and have helped tremendously. I hope the posts continue!

    Another update. After the millionth inappropriate post here, I asked the admins to change the description of the forum. Now the description explicitly states that the tutorials section is not the place for general questions.

    Sir,
    We all know the nuissance of misuse by repeatedly asking the same questionings....but as a human we all succumb to need. Say if a person is in dire need to submit his work but unable due to some reasons...he would be more prone to put the question even if his conscience asks him to see the forum first....
    That sir I dont want to cover anyone's mistakes i just request you to make an additional mailing list. The moderator may see the list and select the important mails and reply . The rest of the reperated mails may be rejected as well.

    Sorry debasish_deka, but I can't seem to work out what point you're trying to make. The post you quoted is my grumpy update about people mis-using the tutorials forum for posts that are questions, and not tutorials.

    By all means ask your questions in the other forums, but the tutorials section is supposed to house only tutorials (i.e., be the place to post answers to questions before they're asked).

    If you have a question, first use the search feature to find out previous responses to similar questions (chances are your question has been answered before). If you still need to, only then should you post your question in the correct forum.

    hey everyone, i have a serious problem or at least that's what i think it is..
    i have just bought a new laptop and it does not have an RS232 female with it, it only has the VGA female... how can i connect the butterfly to bray's terminal?? please help:( thanks a lot
