4.13 SP1 BETA is over on the Atmel Norway Beta site:
Do you know if they are EVER going to fix the stupid avr-gcc plugin defaults??
I was hopeful but a new project starts with -O0, no libm.a link, no -std=gnu99, etc. etc.
It seems such a simple thing to fix?
DO NOT uninstall the previous version, like I did. This is an 'update'. (Uninstaling avr studio removed a system file msvcrt70.dll, which is used by other programs, causing several errors on restart).
(simulator still clears r0-r31 on resets)
It seems they changed the XML file encoding to utf-16. I wonder why the change?
Thanks for the feedback.
We're looking into all of this...
Need to be aware that registration is require to download the software "AVR Studio 4.13 (build 528)"
No form checking, so you can just fill in required fields with just 1 character. Or here you go-

Thanks for the other link.
For some unknown reason, I bookmarked a different one.
Now will update with your link.
I did not read the actual site of the OP thread.
Must a have a Brain F$%t.
I just installed this on another of my machines which is running a firewall. During the installation a command line based utility called WDREG is launched and during that an attempt was made to contact 126.96.36.199 which is located on the East coast of the USA. As far as I can tell it's in an IP range owned by Verisign so maybe this was a completely legitimate access but can you verify that this was supposed to happen? (I never like programs that access the net when I haven't been expecting it - often seems like they may be "spying" to me)
My guess is its some kind of driver 'signing verification', either from Windows or from wdreg (Jungo usb driver for philips usb chip on the dragon).
I have given up on 'watching' my programs to see if they access the net, as they all do now. I hate it. So I quit watching. They can do whatever they want, I give up, I don't care anymore (just keep personal data 'secure'). But if I was a 'real' programmer, I would ALWAYS ask for permission to access the net (some do that, but is rare).
That sounds about right. One quick way to tell is to uninstall the Jungo driver and then reinstall AVR Studio but don't install the Jungo USB driver. See if it tries access the 'net. If no, then it's probably the driver signing verification.
yes this is for driver signing
Fair enough, but I just think it'd be nice if the code just popped up a message (not even something requiring to be acknowledged by the user) to say "just going to check driver signature now..." or something so that those of us watching the IP traffic could get some kind of warm, cosy feeling about it.
The user's ability to understand how their computer is potentially using personal information behind their back without permission is arguably the single most important aspect of "Trusted Computing", and sadly it's the one part which has been totally ignored by most software manufacturers.
On my PC's the IO toolbar is always activated or partially activated when I startup AVRStudio, no matter how I save my workspace settings prior to closing. This has been happening since the introduction of the IO toolbar. I say partially activated since with the new beta, only some lines are drawn (no text and no visible close button). Is this a known issue?
Problem is now noted, and is targeted to be fixed in 4.13 SP2.

Engineering seems to boil down to: Cheap. Fast. Good. Choose two. Sometimes choose only one.

Hi, i've installed the latest SP1 build 577 (aStudio413SP1b577.exe), but it seems that there is a bug: AVR Studio says that the version is 4.13 build 557?!
I'm a little confused...
That's just a typo on the web page isn't it?
Curious thing is that I always go to www.atmel.no/beta_ware/ to get my "latest" downloads of Studio and at the present the version there is actally .555 and not .557 ?
I downloaded the service pack from this page: http://www.atmel.com/dyn/product...
I downloaded the service pack from this page:
It looks that way. So maybe the title of this announcement should be changed? It doesn't take much to confuse me. :)
I've been ignoring the service pack because it's beta and they ain't paying me to do their testing. I have enough problems already. But now it's good?
But now it's good?
Yeah, I get it now. And it's "as good as it gets" :)
Thanks for removing it from the announcements. I'm not so confused as I was :)
The next time I'm near a cable modem I will download it.
As for the 577 versus 577, I guess this service pack needs a service pack :)
Or you could just wait until Service Pack 2 comes out... :)
