After having a trusty STK500 for years I finally bought an Atmel ICE and apparently like a lot of others am having trouble getting Studio 7 to recognize Atmel ICE.
OS: Windows 7 with all of the latest (and last) updates
AVR Studio Version: 7.0.2397
Drivers: Atmel-ICE Data Gateway shown in Device Manage under Microchip Tools (driver date 01/10/2019, Version 188.8.131.52)
Programs Shown in "Uninstall or Change a program"
Atmel Driver Files
Atmel LibUSB0 Driver (x64)
Atmel Segger USB Drivers (501e)
Atmel Studio 7.0
- If Atmel-ICE is not plugged in "Simulator" appears as a Tool
- typing atfw -t gives displays "Please specify tool type" in command prompt window and "Atmel Backend Component has stopped working" in another window
- Now Jungo Connectivity IS NOT found in Device Manager for some reason but it has been in the past????; However when it was there ICE was still not recognized
- I have repaired & uninstalled/re-installed Studio 7.0 numerous times and removed Atmel-ICE drivers and re-installed several times (installed before Studio 7.0 installation and after)
That's about all the info I can think of to give. Since there seems to be quite a few threads on this topic it seems like Microchip should put a little more effort into either the software, hardware, or firmware!!!!!!
