Does anyone have experience with Märklin digital protocol?

Hi.

As the subject says, do we have anyone that has some experience decoding the Märklin digital protocol with an AVR?

I am trying to make a signal (or semaphore) controller for Märklin model trains, and I have it working most of the time. Have a look at my preliminary page for further info and a couple of videos: http://www.ejberg.dk/trains/signalbrake/index.html
Unfortunately, I am experiencing some sort of periodic instability in decoding the digital format. And quite frankly I'm totally lost right now. Don't know what to try next. So if anyone have been through the problems implementing a Märklin digital decoder, please raise your hand now and say "Yo" :D

Nice work. Unfortunately I got out of Marklin before digital hit the scene in Australia so I can' thelp in that regard.

Great work all the same. This project looks like it could have a broad impact of lots of Marklin enthusists!

Thanks. And yes, there are quite a few Märklinists that are VERY interested in this project. Unfortunately none of them have any AVR knowledge.

Hey,

Are you still busy with building a marklin decoder? Since a few day's I have my first digital marklin loc with a marklin systems controller.

I've looked at the signals from the controller, but's at very high speeds (50 us - 100 us). Maby we can help each other?

I found the problem later back then, and the project as it is now on my homepage, works perfectly.

As you say Märklin Systems, are you talking Mobile Station and/or Central Station? In that case they have changed to a new protocol (called mfx), and information regarding this one isn't available. I don't know anything about it, and for my purpose it doesn't matter anyway, as controlling signals are still done with the old protocol.
But if you need to read the locomotive data, and are using the new mfx system, you are in quite a bit of trouble.

I seem to recall Elektor have had a few projects over the years regarding the Marklin protocol. I think the earlier protocol was based on motorola remote control ics.
