Guys,  I installed ARM GCC 8 and I get the following error when I try to build a project:

The syntax of the command is incorrect.
'tr' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
The syntax of the command is incorrect.

I checked, and the environment variable is set!

Any advice is welcome..

Looks to me like tr isn't installed.

How do build? Is it makefiles or an IDE. Either way a build script that is invoked is presumably trying to execute a tr command that you don't have.

tr is a unix utility for translating/deleting characters.

It's installed alongside git-for-windows

Nigel@E400 MINGW64 ~/Desktop
$ tr --help
Usage: tr [OPTION]... SET1 [SET2]
Translate, squeeze, and/or delete characters from standard input,
writing to standard output.

I must have missed something, not rigorously monitoring the forums.  Is this now an ARM place?  As I recall, this poster has done this in the past.  IMO addressing his query here is encouragement, not discouragement.

[yeah, I know, "when I post on these Forums I get answers".  Still, there should be a vigorous ARM community somewhere...]

You can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig.

I've never met a pig I didn't like, as long as you have some salt and pepper.
