Hi all

I am having trouble finding transistors.

I have decided to buy all my components at Jameco. However they do not have the transistors required for the design shown at this website (link).

The transistors he used are:
BC547
BC557
BD137
BD245

How can I look for alternative transistors?

Is it possible to use just one type transistor in replace for all of them?

Thank You

No, there are four very different types in that schematic. Q1 is a huge NPN power transistor, Q2 is a small NPN power transistor, Q3 is a small signal NPN and Q4 is a small signal PNP. For Q1 I suggest a TIP3055 (1166627), for Q2 a TIP31A (1166678), for Q3 a 2N3904 (178597PS), for Q4 a 2N3906 (178618PS) - Jameco part numbers in brackets. You'll like the price of the last two.

To discover these for yourself you'd need to look up the data sheets, learn to understand what parameters are important and then spend a while browsing through catalogs looking for alternatives that match or exceed the critical ones. There's a bit more to explain than will fit in a reply. You could start by downloading the data sheets for the 8 part numbers mentioned so far and comparing them.

The first 3 you should be able to get anywhere, it would help if you would tell us where in the world you are located and someone with local experience could give you the answer.

Hey, thank you peret and js for the reply. I was going to review transistors on my text book, but my friend still has my book and then try to see if i can find similarities.

I am located in NYC -- dont really know where to get these

(Dont want to go to Radio Shk, they cost too much)

Hello

I'm writing here because I didn't want to make another topic about finding right transistors for my power pack

I'm looking for transistors which have code name on them

w220nf75 cc13a

its transistors for photography lighting portable battery generator with power of 1500W/s

sorry I dont know much about electronics but I'm handy and I know how to soldering things,  service told me then they will have to replace circuit board, and they are out of parts, I check all pack and its looks like only this transistors get broke

can somebody help me to find this parts or replacement for them, I dont wan't to put to the bin equipment for over £1000

if you need any other information just let me know

all best

Lucas

Google finds the ST part at Mouser

datasheet: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&...

I doubt if the MOSFET is the only casualty.    I would always expect the discharging capacitor to fail first.

If you are replacing this capacitor make sure that you use the same or  BETTER.
