Hi guys,

I'm trying to built a stand alone device that could act as a programmer to program Atmega128s. The Atmega128 executable file would be stored inside the device which i'm trying to build and it would be capable of loading the executable files into any connected mega128.

So what I'm missing now is the protocol to communicate and program an empty mega128. Is there a place that I could get the information? And is there any working projects that I can refer to? Sorry if my question sounds nooB, in fact Atmega series is pretty new to me.

If your objective is to produce AVR apps, then I'd suggest using a pre-made device, or making a Buttload. There is a current thread asking the same question; search for "keyfob".

You can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig.

I've never met a pig I didn't like, as long as you have some salt and pepper.

Thanks guys for the reply, my problem isn't really solved yet, but I'm joining other thread to avoid multiple thread discussing on the same topic.
