Can a MPLAB forum be created?
Can a MPLAB forum be created?
Can a MPLAB forum be created?
Hmmm, I guess it makes sense but then shouldn't we also have a forum for other Atmel specific IDEs?
We have...
Compilers and General Programming
A forum for discussions about compilers and general programming topics not specifically related to a particular microcontroller.
...but that is specifically for non-specific microcontrollers.
So to be consistent we'd need...
Atmel Studio
MPLABX
Other IDEs (eg Codevision, IAR, Rowley)
What's wrong with the Microchip MPLAB forum? https://www.microchip.com/forums...
I'd just add it to the name of the Studio forum.
since longterm, obviously AtmelStudio was going to be abandoned and MPLAB was going to be the all in one official DevelpmentIDE
it is make sense in term of Studio (now it says "Atmel Studio (AVR related)" i.e. MPLAB discution ONLY for develop avr project in Mplab)
transition to new IDE obviously it will take years but...
@js microchip forums is not "AVRfreaks community" thats all ;)

...
AVR support will continue to be added to Atmel Studio 7 and Atmel START for current and future AVR devices.
...
“Microchip continues to explore ways to provide more offerings and improve the development experience for our customers,” said Steve Drehobl, vice president of Microchip’s 8-bit MCU business unit. “With the addition of the AVR MCUs to the MPLAB ecosystem, designers who are accustomed to MPLAB X IDE now have more MCU options to choose from. Traditional AVR MCU programmers can also stay with Atmel Studio 7, as we are continuing to offer new device support, add enhancements and implement bug fixes as needed.”
...
In general, it's not time to start a new "Forum" until the closest existing "reasonable choice" starts to be overwhelmed and people complain "there are too many MPLAB questions here - I thought it was supposed to the the Atmel Studio forum!"
Hi all
Does anyone know if there is a way to be informed when Microchip sorts out the AVR related problems with MPLAB X?
An email list, for example.
Take care

edit : 'Device Support.htm' in the release notes zip; MPLAB X v5.15 - AVR simulator is complete and tested for a lot of megaAVR (except 0-series)
Thanks.
I think I had already done that, but I did it again anyway just in case.

I do hope that Microchip are never involved in the space program.
We'd never get to Mars.

From my experience this will happen in the next few years....say 2025 ?
Can a MPLAB forum be created?
With the laundry(toilet paper) list of things to be sorted out, creating another forum is not a high priority I would think.

You are correct, and I am a little confused at how my quoting your post was mixed up with the OP. My apologies.
It might have to do with my originally quoting the OP, and deleting that when I realised the age of the thread, and instead quoted your post and possibly my browser did not handle the copy/paste properly.
I dunno. Again, my apologies.

Jim, Its okay, no need for apologies.
I find it difficult these days to keep following the threads am part of due to the problem of email notification....hope they fix it soon...

Mars?
Microchip would tell us we are already there.
Nice bit of necromancy but didn't quite make it into the first year :-(
The actual necromancer was: https://www.avrfreaks.net/forum/mplab-cannot-find-file-error - which has now been split off.
I was hoping that the next necromance might spot the link, and follow it:
MPLAB Forums are here:

Gentlemen we have a time-lord amongst us.
What other gems from the future does he have to offer us?

Moe’s comment was over a year ago.....
