It has a M4808 + wifi and provides usb charging of lipo battery (not included)

DK part # AC164160-ND price $29.87 and shows 191 in stock
Looks like a fun way to learn about the new AVR+0 chips
No programmer required, simple USB file drag and drop programming, also has console access via usb com port.

Having WiFi defines it as an IoT thing? Oh, well, I looked up some "references" that include both WiFi and BT as "IoT technologies".
I would have expected support for SigFox, or LoRa or LPWA or 6LoWPAN or Thread, or something like that.

Microchip's Bluetooth 5 industrial temperature range modules aren't extendable though are configurable (discrete IO, UART) (UART is transparent, iow "wireless" cable)
Nordic's Bluetooth 5 SoC is extendable and has a SDK for 6LoWPAN and router software to bridge to WLAN.
The other Bluetooth 5 manufacturers likely also have such an SDK or equivalent.

The problem is that the term IoT is totally marketish, thus it is vague and informal. People say IoT and assume M2M, which has been there for decades now. It runs over 3G and feels just fine, thank you. For this type of communication BT is overengineered (well, it just is so, no matter of application), WiFi is too fast. LoRa is deveoloped to replace 3G-based M2M. Nevertheless, both BT and WiFi are excellent for transition period because they are well known and used globally.
I see no point in 802.15-style meshes at all. Too complex to control a bulb and a pump in a household, too slow for multimedia streams. Why, then?
[Edit]: from technical point of view, only WiFi and LoRa are worth attention. Alas, BT and others won't excinct any soon. It's like Intel and Windows: no one likes it but everyone uses it.

gchapman It is still way too complicated. How do I connect my own sensors to the cloud? How do I connect my own assembler programs with the offered cloud functionality?
It's nice if a 'out of the box' cloud connection is demonstrated. But if you just want to use this functionality without having to deal with all internal details? If you deviate from the given inflexible rigid line, it quickly becomes very complex. Since it helps nothing if the word "easy" is used inflationary.
Too many such boards are already on the market and dust after the first try.
Too often, these are technological feasibility studies without any thought as to how to use innovative features like cloud functionality in really every situation, simply usable from every position. There is much more to simplify.

How about an encapsulated cloud interface, configurable via WLAN and with UART. There is only a specific number with associated reading transferred. How the measured value is then evaluated, displayed and archived can be determined on the Internet at the cloud provider. That would be a simple, universally applicable cloud solution. No unnecessary work with any protocols, transmission and security details etc.
