Greetings -

In the  middle of some major changes on my data logger project. Environment: gcc + AS7 + Windows10 + Mega328P

In a module not knowingly changed, the compiler or linker, not sure which, shows an error "Segmentation Fault" on completion of a build (not downloaded to target) AFTER a clean-all. Never seen this before and have no idea what it indicates.

Ooops, tried it again, preceded by a clean-all, and this error was absent.

Can anyone suggest what might have happened?

Thanks

Jim

Hi Jim,

I think this is a known bug in AS7, I've read multiple of threads about this fault...just keep building the project many times and then it will go away. atleast this is what am doing..

Moe

Due to LTO?

There's a current segfault bug in FSF AVR GCC 5.4 which Microchip AVR GCC 3.6.1 is from.

87695 – Arduino: ICE with avr and LTO

Two of the several to many possible workarounds would be to turn off LTO or move to FSF AVR GCC 7 or 8 (supported by FSF, the ones at Microchip support Microchip AVR GCC 3.6)

Thanks...

As I wrote, this is the first time (using AS7 since soon after its introduction) and using it quite heavily, that I encountered this. It was displayed in the Error List after the build.

I will let it go, but now being more aware of it.

Again, Thanks

Jim
